Nafako Jindagee captured the extensive life experiences of Deependra Rokaya. Undoubtedly, book reflects the social and political circumstances throughout the tenure of People’s War.
Book even analyze and observe the phenomenon during People’s War. Book allows us to revisit the scenario of People’s War. People’s War transformed the life of the large section of Nepali people including Rokaya’s. Similarly, People’s War brought twists and turns in the life of Rokaya.
Basically, writer aims to communicate his everyday life journey through writing a book. Self experience manifests how writing for opposition could be full of risk for the journalist. Book even shows how ordinary people directly involve in People’s war through supporting mere the ideology initially.
Surprisingly, he mentioned the people with different ideology and political background supported the Maoist movement in the village. Writer mentioned about formation of Jansarkar but not the objective is clarified behind formation.
Rokaya even reflect social environment of jail in his writing. He considers jail as a small country in itself. Jail enables people to identity friend and enemy. Social stratification is available in the jail. He was kept in jail without warrant letter and he frequently questions how such incidence is possible. According to him he was treated in inhuman manner and kept in dirty room with insects and tortured in violent manner but remained alive. Author narrated varieties of the physical and mental torture committed by the perpetrator.
He witnessed the proletariat Chepang changed them and adopted Christianity. Salvation of proletariat class is the aim of his life through economic and social transformation.
Even perpetrator murdered or collectively murdered people according to him. He became unconscious but considers such state it is better to be senseless and painless. He witnesses his friend adopts dancing strategy to remain aloof from sore and pain.
Born in a proletariat and marginalized social economic class, struggle is the part of life. Everyday is the day of deprivation for the proletariat. In his life time only he heard voice of sympathy not the hand to support. Struggle taught him to survive even in adverse circumstances. He even faced corporal punishment in his school life. He shared jobless situation as he was dismissed from mere manual wage labor service.
Firstly, communism is the passion for him and secondly journalism fascinated him. For him journalist is the first audience. He witnessed the proletariat Chepang changed them and adopted Christianity. Salvation of proletariat class is the aim of his life through economic and social transformation.
Rokaya argued that semi-feudal and semi-colonial feature state of leads Nepal undeveloped and underdeveloped. Technological and economic revolution is the cornerstone to develop Nepal. Author aims to develop Nepal, Kathmandu, his village, the Humla. Less productivity and cold weather is the geographical feature of Hulma according to the author. However, according to him villagers are poor in terms of economy but affluent to render love. Land fragmentation and limited production block the progress of Nepal according to him.
Government should arrange fertilizer, seeds and irrigation to improve yield of overall Nepal. Similarly, natural resources and water resources of Nepal should be utilized. For instance, raw material of nuclear weapon is available in Nepal. In regards to culture he advised to convert festival as Teej to ensure solidarity and salvation of women.
Certain objective of People’s War is fulfilled but still gap are prevail to be abridged by the concerned stakeholder. For him aim of the revolution is to ensure peace through revolution. However, still main challenge is to seriously address the suffering, pain, aspiration and feelings of revenge of the victims and the martyrs of People’s war otherwise possibility of another revolution is there.
